Low Level Pumping
Key Features of how the operation works:
- The portable pumping units, powered by electricity, are located near the intake tower on the face of the Dam.
- During low demand periods 1 pumping unit is sufficient. During higher demand periods a second unit is needed.
- Steel piping into the Intake Tower (second level gates – 55 feet).
- Instrumentation to control the units from headquarters.
- The pumping units are designed to match the rate of 1 or 2 pumps at Pumping Plant 1.
